StoryTap.TV

Brought on as lead full stack developer to take over the project from multiple outsourced developers. Originally built as a real-time crowdfunding solution (fka ThinkShip, HubFive), StoryTap is now a social TV for storytelling. You can participate with friends, family, and people of similar interests by adding episodes to tell stories in real-time. Currently StoryTap is closing funding with the hope of building out much needed native iOS and Android apps. The massive shift and poor code base caused a myriad of issues and constraints, most notably the inability to re-develop, test, QA, and properly build out an application. Some tech utilized: Ruby 2, PostgreSQL 9.3, DigitalOcean (cloud servers to host staging and live environments), Amazon S3 (storing images), SendGrid (transactional emails), WePay (payment processing), GoDaddy (SSL certificate and email hosting), AngularJS, jQuery, Bootstrap, Carrierwave, VideoJS, Fog, Sidekiq

Mosa Mack Science

Worked for Mosa Mack Science as acting interim CTO while the company pivoted. More specifically, full stack development and design for a new Education Technology company focused on science education. I didn’t like how much the app depended on 3rd party integration. I reviewed business requirements. Performed a technical analysis of requirements. Produced a solid, detailed technical design. Wrote clean, modular, robust code to implement the desired requirements. Contributed ideas for making the application better and easier to use. Squashed bugs and implemented various new features- Most notably a student/teacher portal for live, interactive quizzes, tests, news, and events. Wrote a custom Slack integration to the app that uses commands to view/import/export data. It also grants admin control of the user permission levels created (i.e. restrict access, or grant temporary or full access to a paid or free user). Also conducted server side maintenance and updates. Some tech utilized: Amazon AWS, Elastic Beanstalk, Postgres, Rails 4.2, Coffeescript, jQuery, SCSS, AngularJS, Mailchimp, Mixpanel, Mandrill, Contactually, ZenDesk, Google Analytics

Review Kick

I was the lead architect, full stack developer, & engineer of fully responsive live ruby on rails application for a product with Jungle Scout called Review Kick. The app is based on huge discounts in exchange for amazon product reviews. The system allows a reviewer to shop hundreds of discounted products. The sellers then approve a number of reviewers based on how many products they would like to give out. The reviewer then orders the product on Amazon with their coupon code, and tries out the newly purchased product, and shares their honest feedback about the purchase. Review Kick was recently launched in beta, and currently free for a limited time.

SFPS District Intranet

Worked for a digital growth consultancy Maven 2.0, Inc. advising, estimating, researching, and programming for client projects as the lead programmer under the CEO & CTO and alongside a designer. Most notably, I programmed an intranet for the Santa Fe Public School District in Rails 4.2.x. It was developed into a turnkey system. Some responsibilities included API integration, active directory / LDAP integration, user roles (admin, support staff, teachers, principals, etc.), global or assigned access, profiles, blog, news, page management, upload/attach/link documents, global search, calendars/events, training section, training videos, quick links, system-wide alerts, and “fun features”. Setup Foundation for Apps within the project. Integrated Amazon S3 to handle all user and admin uploads. Set up staging site on Heroku. Used Mandrill to handle transactional emails. Created video URL helper to support Vimeo and YouTube. Advised on tech for production environment. Developed and styled frontend.
